THE OZONE QUESTION
Airdog's technology is ionic rather than HEPA, which produces a small amount of ozone as a byproduct. Most sites selling these don't mention it. Here are the numbers.
The X3 is certified by the California Air Resources Board and tests at roughly 0.01 parts per million (ppm) over 24 hours — a fifth of CARB's 0.05 ppm limit. If you know you're ozone-sensitive, a straight HEPA unit with no ionization is the more conservative choice. If you're not, this is well within the safety margin.
THE ROOM SIZE MISTAKE ALMOST EVERYONE MAKES
Airdog rates the X3 at 942 square feet — but that's one air change per hour. For asthma and allergies you want four or five.
Airdog says so themselves: they recommend 215 sq ft for four changes per hour, 287 for three. So use 215 as your real number. It clears that space in about 15 minutes.

NO FILTERS TO REPLACE
Washable collecting plates instead of disposable cartridges. Rinse them, twenty minutes to dry, put them back.
